happy new year.....2011!!
had an awesome celebration in my local, a quiet supper with mum, victoria, renee, martin and steve the landlord, a fiddler and ukulele player......a few pints of guiness, a couple of glasses of wine, some champagne and then the jaigermeister arrived, along with some thumping tunes! dancing the lawn mower, the edge cutter and the water sprinkler, we were away! i don't think we made it home much before 4am.....and only thanks to mum who drove us, i certainly did not fancy that walk again.....it's seven miles!
anyway, more importantly, the 2011 dakar has started!!! if you haven't already, check out www.dakar.com where you can get all the info and even updates to your iphone! the dakar has shown it's dark side though already, 186 bike registered for the rally, 170 left buenos aires and today only 154 made it home and sadly it looks like jenny morgan has withdrawn today on stage 4. not certain, but reports are suggesting a broken hip......thoughts are with you jenny.....probably not what you want to hear now, but you have to join jago and i next year! craig bounds is in 50th position and simon pavey is in 72nd - amazing going as he is doing this without support!!
my brother called me at midnight to tell me he was outside salta in north west argentina, right in the middle of today's dakar stage.....awesome! so here's a photo he managed to send, i think it is coma....
and here are some great video clips i have found online which give a great insight into the competitors and the race
