shoulder update

consultant says no!

essentially, i have broken some of the bone around the edge of the socket as the ball of the joint came out during the dislocation. the bone is badly bruised and there is a fair amount of fluid/ blood in and around the damaged area. on a positive note, there did not appear to be any damage to the ligaments, tendons or muscle (apart from obvious bruising!). so, the upshot is, i should have surgery to rebuild the broken bone area to help prevent another dislocation. when i asked the consultant whether this meant i could not race next weekend, he made it very clear that i shouldn't!! ironically, 2 mins before arriving to the consultation i had received an email telling me that the registrations were listed on the dawn to dusk website and i had been allocated race number 96!!! furthermore my arm and shoulder feels so much better and i am able to use it a lot more......i could ride slowly ; )
