3 hour journey has taken the best part of 7 hours today, 1hr from chiswick to battersea!!

so, drove to patsy's in heathfield and picked up jago's acu licence and start permission, without which there would be no dakar for him. also picked up my new boots, desert rose rab jkt, fleece, t-shirts and race jkt - photos later.

then dropped chobe off with jane over near windsor.

just had a hot weather haircut - last cut at the beginning of august - so home now to pack???!!

flight leaves heathrow at 0620hrs tomorrow morning, can't wait for blue skies and sunshine.

still to do

have now set up spotify account so building a dakar playlist for the long liaisons - came across this band called awolnation, loving their sound, 'sail' is going to be my dakar mantra!

on wednesday morning i was in orpington, where i was having moulds of my ear canal made so that i could finally have a proper ear plugs that won't fall out! to top that, these ones will also have speakers built in so that i can plug them into my ipod/ phone an listen to my new playlist.

it was a strange sensation having foam pads stuffed deep into my ears before using a silicon sealer gun to squeeze a load of cold, pale green gunk into my ear - poor fellow had to inspect my ears to begin with - but it was quite comical as he was basically a builder in a lab coat! dirty rebok trainers, tracksuit bottoms covered in paint, ear rings (as if!), but he was wearing the all important lab coat, so he was definitely professional; my ears were in his hands.

2 pairs of scott desert goggles arrived this morning, one pair with clear lenses for night/ dull conditions and one pair for grey lenses on the brighter days - wonder which i'll be wearing most??!!

have ordered some skins shorts, but they still haven't arrived yet : ( not sure one pair will be enough???

rory has my new klim lid.....he also has my 950 and spare flat keys....we're not even going out???!!

new sidi crossfire boots are with patsy, plus the new racing jacket; looking forward to seeing it, as well as the all important lightweight rab for the cold mountain/ bad weather days.

still need to book a hotel and we still need to work out bike transport from buenos aires to mar del plata....400km away. any ideas welcome - my bro barney was out there with lucy last christmas, so he should know?

will be working most of the weekend as the office refurb nears completion. the removal firm brought  the first load of furniture and crates over today, but had to delay slightly as the builders were trying to create clean spaces to put them! tomorrow will be more fun and games as the builders try to paint and snag while the the second half of furniture and crates arrive. there is still a fair amount of work to do, most of which will be completed over the weekend and monday.

not forgetting the servers, barney has been working hard over the past 5/6 weeks preparing the move today and having started at 9am this morning, he has been leading the 6 man team and they are still hard at it, here in our new offices. the fact that i can write this blog entry shows we're (the royal 'we', that is!) making progress. due to my lack of technical ability there has not been a lot i can do this evening apart from providing food and drink to the team.....fizzy drinks, pringles, starbursts, pizzas and just picked up krispy cremes and lates!!!

updated the virgin giving site as my dear uncle roger and auntie carolyne have been very generous both to my endeavour and the charities - although i've still got to get the funds from the party organisers to add to the virgin giving site, so that everyone can see where their donations went = ))

gonna head home shortly though, as it will be an early start and we have our christmas party tomorrow night, not that i'll be drinking.....
